Nashville Thriller: Alabama Women’s Basketball Defeats Vanderbilt on the Road in Overtime

Brittany Davis scored 25 points to lead all scorers, JaMya Mingo-Young added 20 points
NASHVILLE – The Crimson Tide broke some hearts in Nashville this weekend, as the University of Alabama women's basketball team defeated Vanderbilt, 77-71, on the road in overtime, Sunday, Feb. 6. The Crimson Tide improved to a 12-10 (3-8) record on the season, while the Commodores fell to 12-12 (3-7) in 2021-22.
Alabama improved its winning streak over Vanderbilt to seven straight.
Two Crimson Tide players eclipsed 20 points in the same game for the second time this season, as Brittany Davis paced the team with 25 points (9-of17) and JaMya Mingo-Young added 20 points (5-of-11).
It marked Davis' second straight game of scoring 20 points or more and her seventh instance this season. She added nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in 42 minutes of action. Mingo-Young had her third game of scoring 20 points or more, while the junior added six rebounds, six steals and an assist in 43 minutes of action.
Megan Abrams tacked on 14 points, four off the glass, dished out three assists and made a trio of steals.
Alabama shot 55.1 percent, a season high, on 27-of-49 from the field, knocking down seven three-point field goals and 16 of its 25 attempts at the line. Vanderbilt had one more make and nearly 20 more attempts, shooting 41.2 percent on 28-of-68 from the field, making four three-point field goals and 11 of its 21 attempts at the stripe.
The Crimson Tide collected just 29 rebounds, compared to the Commodores' 41. Alabama committed 17 turnovers and Vanderbilt committed 15 turnovers, while the Tide outscored the Dores, 19-14, off those miscues.
