
Alabama Women’s Basketball Falls at No. 1/1 South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of Alabama women's basketball team lost to the top-ranked team in the nation South Carolina, 83-51, Thursday in Columbia, S.C. The Crimson Tide fell to a 11-10 (2-8) record on the season, while the Gamecocks improved to 21-1 (9-1) in 2021-22.
Brittany Davis had her sixth game of scoring 20-plus points, tying the game high with 20 points on 7-of-16 from the field and 3-of-7 from long range. She added a rebound and a steal in just 33 minutes of action. JaMya Mingo-Young scored nine points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds, while Hannah Barber tacked on eight points and grabbed a pair of boards.
The Crimson Tide shot 27.3 percent on 18-of-66 from the field, while the Gamecocks shot 53.2 percent on 33-of-62 from the field. South Carolina, the nation's leader in rebound margin, grabbed 46 off the glass, while Alabama grabbed 34 boards.

- UA got in early foul trouble, as Alabama had six fouls, compared to South Carolina's zero fouls.
- Alabama kept South Carolina scoreless for the first two-and-a-half minutes of the second quarter and held them to just two points in the first three minutes and 50 seconds of the second quarter.
- Jada Rice earned her third foul of the game just under the five-minute mark in the second quarter.
- The Crimson Tide went on a scoring drought for more than four minutes near the end of the second quarter, which ended thanks to a foul drawn by Brittany Davis at 1:39.
