The Crimson Tide defeated Yale, 4-2, before falling to Arizona, 4-3, on the final day of competition
Montgomery, Ala. –– The No. 26 Alabama women's tennis team (10-2) split the final day of competition at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Saturday. After playing doubles on Friday, the Crimson Tide battled back from a 1-0 deficit to take a 4-2 win against Yale (4-6) to open the day before falling 4-3 to Arizona (7-2).
Recapping Singles Against Yale
- Alabama entered the match trailing Yale, 1-0, after the Bulldogs captured the doubles point Friday night
- Anne Marie Hiser clinched the first win of the day with a straight set 6-2, 6-3 victory over Rhea Shrivastava at court five
- Ola Pitak followed with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Caroline Dunleavy on court two to give UA the lead as Petra Sedlackova's 6-3, 6-4 win over Jessie Gong on court three moved Alabama out to 3-1
- The Bulldogs recorded a three-set win on court one but Kasia Pitak went 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 against Vivian Cheng on court six for the win

- Alabama started strong, winning the doubles point as Loudmilla Bencheikh and Hiser posted a 6-2, win at No. 1 against Kayla Wilkins and Kirsten Prelle
- Arizona responded with a win at No. 3 but a 6-4 victory from Ola Pitak and Kasia Pitak against Khim Iglupas and Parker Fry on court two secured the opening point for the Tide
- The Wildcats flipped the advantage, taking wins on courts six, two and five, respectively, to move ahead 3-1
- Bencheikh battled to a three-set victory against Kayla Wilkins, going 6-2, 6-7(2), 6-4 at the top of the ladder
