Alabama Women’s Tennis Defeats No. 28 Kentucky, 4-0, In SEC Home Opener

The Crimson Tide won the doubles point and three singles matches in its 4-0 win over the Wildcats

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– The Alabama women's tennis team captured its first Southeastern Conference win of the season Friday, defeating Kentucky 4-0 at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. The Crimson Tide moves to 11-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play, as the Wildcats drop to 11-2 overall and 0-1 in SEC action.

After winning the doubles point with victories on courts three and two, respectively, Alabama took three straight singles points to clinch the match. UA recorded singles wins on courts three, five and one, respectively, for its 4-0 victory against the Wildcats.

Ola Pitak and Kasia Pitak captured the first win for the Tide as the duo defeated Carlota Molina and Lidia Gonzalez 6-1 at No. 3 doubles
Petra Sedlackova and Anna Parkhomenko secured the 1-0 start for UA, going 7-5 against Ellie Eades and Carla Girbau at No. 2
No. 33-ranked Loudmilla Bencheikh and Anne Marie Hiser were battling through a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles when the point was clinched
