Alabama Softball Earns Two More Wins Saturday in Youngsville

The Crimson Tide defeat Northwestern State, 8-3, and Louisiana Tech, 2-0
YOUNGSVILLE, La. – Second-ranked Alabama softball posted another pair of wins on day two at the Mardi Gras Mambo, beating Northwestern State, 8-5, before shutting out Louisiana Tech, 2-0.
Alabama (14-0) scored eight runs in the first two innings against Northwestern State (8-5) and the Lady Demons were able to scratch across three runs in the third and fourth but the Crimson Tide pitchers and defense held them for the remainder of the game. In the nightcap, Alabama took a 1-0 lead in the second inning off a Louisiana Tech (8-6) error and got some insurance from a sixth-inning Ally Shipman home run, holding on for the two-run shutout.
Shipman's home run was part of a 3-for-5 day at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in three RBIs. Dallis Goodnight, Abby Doerr and Ashley Prange each earned a pair of hits between Saturday's two games, while Bailey Dowling drove in a pair of runs on a single up the middle in game one against Northwestern State. Montana Fouts (5-0) earned the win in relief in game one before earning a save in game two, following behind 5.1 shutout innings from Jaala Torrence (3-0).
