Mainz is the first woman in Blue Gray history and second inductee from The University of Alabama to receive the honor
MONTGOMERY, Ala. –– Alabama women's tennis head coach Jenny Mainz was inducted into the Blue Gray Hall of Fame, the organization announced on Thursday. Mainz is the first woman in Blue Gray history to be inducted by the prestigious event and the second honoree from The University of Alabama.

"I'm honored to be joining this distinguished group of individuals in the Blue Gray Hall of Fame. It's quite humbling to be associated with the likes of Stan Smith, Tony Trabert, Ellis Ferreira and all of the legendary Blue Gray Hall of Famers. There's no question that it takes a village and it's a total team effort. The Blue Gray National Tennis Classic is the most prestigious collegiate tennis event next to the NCAA Championships. Thank you for this incredible honor."
About Coach Mainz
- Recorded her 300th win as head coach of the Crimson Tide this season
- Is in her 25th season at the helm of the Alabama women's tennis team and is UA's longest active tenured head coach
- Under Mainz's leadership, Alabama has made 16 NCAA tournament appearances and has produced 22 NCAA singles qualifiers and 15 NCAA doubles qualifiers
- The 2013 ITA National Coach of the Year, Mainz has coached two NCAA Doubles Champions with another pairing making its way to the national championship match
- She has been named the ITA Southern Region Coach of the Year six times and the SEC Coach of the Year three times, including the 2014 season when she led the program to its first Southeastern Conference crown
- The team is currently 9-0 to start the 2022 dual-match season, the program's best start since its 9-0 start in 2018
About the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Hall of Fame
- Mainz is the 48th inductee into the Blue Gray Hall of Fame and is making history as the first woman to be inducted
- Mainz joins Ellis Ferreira as representatives from The University of Alabama – Ferreira played with the Alabama men's team from 1988-91 and was a three-time All-American
- Mainz is one of five inductees from the state of Alabama to receive the honor
- The tournament has hosted some of the top collegiate tennis athletes at the event over the past 70 years
- Players and coaches are both eligible to receive recognition from the Blue Gray committee
About the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic
- No. 26 Alabama opens play at the 74th annual Blue Gray Tennis Classic on Friday at 8:30 a.m. CT against No. 42 Furman
- The event is the nation's second-oldest collegiate tournament behind only the NCAA championship
- The tournament was originally an individual event but now features eight men's and eight women's teams
