The Crimson Tide will return home to host the Commodores Sunday, Feb. 27 for senior day
BATON ROUGE, La. – Despite cutting the Tigers' lead to just three points at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the University of Alabama women's basketball team dropped to No. 8/8 LSU, 58-50, Thursday, Feb. 24 in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Crimson Tide fell to 14-12 (5-10), while the Tigers improved to 24-4 (12-3) in 2021-22.
Brittany Davis led in scoring for the second straight game, while earning her fifth double-double on 18 points, including four three-point field goals, and 11 rebounds. She added one assist to her stat line in 39 minutes of action. Megan Abrams tacked on 16 points, including nine points in the third quarter, while also recording four rebounds, one block and one assist in her home state of Louisiana.
Hannah Barber improved her streak of 36 straight games scoring a three-point field goal, as the senior had 11 points, four rebounds and three assists. Despite playing through some foul trouble in the second half, also in her home state of Louisiana, JaMya Mingo-Young covered the floor on six rebounds, three assists, three steals, two points and a block.
The Crimson Tide managed to cut it to a one possession game after Abrams began the fourth quarter with back-to-back scores for a personal 5-0 run. However, the Tigers would go on an 11-0 run for themselves that sealed their eventual triumph. Alabama shot 34.0 percent from the field on 18-of-53 shooting, while LSU shot 43.9 percent from the field on 25-of-57 shooting.
The Crimson Tide made 11 three-point field goals, the second straight game it eclipsed double digits.
