Brittany Davis’ Electric Shooting Helps Crimson Tide Women’s Basketball Down Commodores

It marked the senior’s second instance of scoring 32 points in the last three games
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama women's basketball team concluded the regular season winning three of its last four games after completing the sweep of Vanderbilt, 77-71, on senior day Sunday, Feb. 27 in Coleman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide improved to 15-12 (6-10), while the Commodores dropped to 13-17 (1-12) in 2021-22.
Brittany Davis led in scoring for the third straight game, recording 32 points on a striking 11-of-13 from the field, including 8-of-9 from long range. It marked the senior's second instance of scoring 32 points in the last three games, while her eight three-point field goals are tied for the program's all-time record.
No Crimson Tide player has knocked down eight three-point field goals in more than a decade, since Ericka Russell did so at Arkansas Feb. 27, 2011. It hasn't been done at home in nearly three decades, since Betsy Harris did so against Auburn Feb. 16, 1994.
Davis tacked on four rebounds, two steals and two assists in 39 minutes of action.
Hannah Barber improved her streak of 37 straight games scoring a three-point field goal, as the senior rallied 14 points thanks to a successful day behind the arc, too. She went 4-of-11 from long range and 3-of-4 from the line, while she also dished out five assists and made two steals.
JaMya Mingo-Young logged yet another double-double, her sixth of the season and her third in the last five games. The junior scored 12 points and recorded 10 rebounds, four assists and made one steal and one block.
Despite trailing by three points at halftime in a game that featured seven lead changes and six ties, the Crimson Tide held a lead over the Commodores for majority of the time. The Tide shot 54.8 percent from the field thanks to 24 makes on 42 attempts, including 14 three-points field goals. The Dores shot 41.8 percent from the field, including 4-of-16 from long range. Both teams made their presence felt at the line, as Alabama went 17-of-26, while Vanderbilt went 11-of-13, from the stripe.
Vanderbilt outrebounded Alabama, 38-25.
