
Alabama Opens 74th Annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Friday Against Arizona

The Crimson Tide battles the Wildcats at 11:30 a.m. CT at Lagoon Park
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– The Alabama men's tennis team (3-6) opens the two-day Blue Gray National Tennis Classic on Friday against Arizona (11-2). First serve between the two teams will be at 11:30 a.m. CT at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala.
The winner between Alabama and Arizona will play the winner from Middle Tennessee and Tulane, while the losers face off against each other in round two. Both second round matches will begin at 4:30 p.m. CT on Friday at Lagoon Park.
Admission to the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic is free.

Date: Friday, Feb. 25-26

Opponents: Arizona, Middle Tennessee, Tulane, Nebraska, Princeton, VCU and Auburn

The Blue Gray
- The Blue Gray National Tennis Classic returns for its 74th event after the tournament was canceled in 2021
- Alabama is one of eight teams competing in the men's competition, as Arizona, Auburn, Middle Tennessee, Nebraska, Princeton, Tulane and VCU round out the field
- Five of the eight teams rank inside the ITA top 75 with Auburn entering the tournament ranked 25th followed by No. 29 Princeton, No. 30 Middle Tennessee, No. 48 Tulane and No. 66 Nebraska
- Alabama last won the tournament in 2016 with a victory over Princeton

- Alabama is coming off a tough road slate, facing then-No. 19 Oklahoma and Tulsa in weekend matches
- Enzo Aguiard earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honors for his performance in the contests as he defeated two ranked singles opponents
- Aguiard topped 53rd-ranked Alex Martiez from Oklahoma and 86th-ranked Ezequiel Santalla from Tulsa to earn the honor

- Alabama leads the series against Arizona, 6-2
- The two teams last met in 2020 during the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic, with UA taking a 4-2 win against the then-ranked No. 46 Wildcats

- Colton Smith leads the Wildcats ranking 71st in singles as Herman Hoeyeraal is ranked 82nd, Jonas Eriksson Ziverts is ranked 102nd and Gustaf Strom is ranked 120th
