BATON ROUGE, La. - The University of Alabama women's basketball team will travel to Baton Rouge, La., to meet No. 8/8 LSU Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. CT in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The contest will be broadcast on SEC Network Plus, with Lyn Rollins and Victor Howell on the call.
The Crimson Tide is 14-11 this season, including 5-9 in the Southeastern Conference and 3-4 in SEC road games. The Tide is on a two-game win streak and has won three of its last four games, including its last two straight road games.
The Tide will look for its second straight win over the Tigers, when the two teams square off in Baton Rouge. The matchup will mark Alabama's second appearance against an Associated Press Top 15 team in its last three games.
Alabama is coming off back-to-back wins against then-No. 12/8 Tennessee, 74-64, and at Texas A&M, 81-79, in double overtime. Brittany Davis, who was crowned SEC Player of the Week Tuesday, combined for 55 points, 11 three-point field goals and 12 rebounds between the pair of triumphs. It marked the first SEC Player of the Week honor of her career, and the team's first of the season.
Abrams, who suffered a slow start to conference action with a series of injury and illness, has had three straight 20-plus point games, while tacking on at least four rebounds in each of those contests. During that stretch, she has also gone 21-of-22 from the free-throw line.
JaMya Mingo-Young has put a damage on the boards of late, grabbing at least 10 rebounds in four of the last five games, a stretch that includes two double-doubles, while also making at least two steals in each game during that span.
Since the conference schedule began, Davis has led the team in scoring average (17.8). Megan Abrams, who was named to the 2021-22 SEC Community Service Team Wednesday, follows with 12.5 points per game, while Mingo-Young adds 11.9 points per game. Davis and Mingo-Young are tied for the team lead in rebounds per game with 6.9 apiece.
