
Alabama’s Ola Pitak Earns SEC Player of the Week Honors

Pitak captured a pair of singles and doubles wins over the weekend to lead the Crimson Tide to victory over Memphis and Minnesota
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –– Alabama's Ola Pitak was named the Southeastern Conference Women's Tennis Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. Pitak went undefeated in singles and doubles, helping the Crimson Tide record its eighth and ninth wins of the season against Memphis and Minnesota, respectively.
A graduate student from Kraków, Poland, Pitak clinched the match point against Memphis, battling in a come-from-behind 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win against Camila Romero at No. 2. Two days later, she recorded Alabama's third point against Minnesota, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, against Ekin Ercetin.
In doubles play, Pitak clinched the doubles point in both matches playing alongside her sister Kasia Pitak. The pair held off Memphis' Romero and Camila Soares with a 7-5 victory while going 6-4 against Minnesota's Lucy Lu and Maria Rizzolo.
The graduate student is currently on a four-match winning streak and holds an 8-1 dual record in singles play. She is currently undefeated in doubles action this dual-match season with an 8-0 record.
