Alabama Faces Tulane In First Road Test of the Season

The Crimson Tide will tip off against the Green Wave at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday Night
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team will face its first road test of the season Thursday, traveling to Tulane for a 6 p.m. CT tip on ESPN+.

- Head Coach Kristy Curry opened her 10th season at the helm of Alabama Monday with a commanding 98-51 win over Alabama A&M
- The win marked the 13th consecutive year Alabama has won its season opener
- Brittany Davis paced the Tide with 26 points, going 8-of-11 from the floor and 7-of-10 from beyond the arc
- Davis was helped by Karly Weathers, who put together a 15-point game in her collegiate debut, and an 11-point game from Megan Abrams
- JaMya Mingo-Young contributed 10 rebounds, five assists and six points in the victory
- Alabama was picked to finish fourth in the SEC by the league coaches for the 2022-23 season
- Davis was named by Southeastern Conference coaches to the preseason All-SEC First Team in addition to being a second-team selection by the media
- UA returned all five starters from last season's 20-14 team that finished with a 6-10 record in SEC play
- Alabama's seven returnees contributed over 95 percent of the Crimson Tide's points from a year ago
About Tulane
- The Green Wave is coming off a 72-46 win against Grambling State Monday
- Tulane shot 56.5 percent from three-point range, tallying 13 threes in the game
- Marta Galic led all scorers with 19 points on the night, going 7-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc while adding in 10 rebounds and a block
- Rachel Hakes had seven assists while Anijah Grant posted nine rebounds
- Tulane is coming off a 21-10 season which included an 11-5 run in the American Athletic Conference
- The Green Wave advanced to last year's WNIT where it faced the Crimson Tide in the second round
- Alabama won that meeting 81-77 to cap the 2021-22 campaign for Tulane
