Alabama Women’s Basketball Tops Tulane, 72-61, on the Road

A 24-point, 11-rebound double-double performance from Brittany Davis paced the Crimson Tide in the victory
NEW ORLEANS – The Alabama women's basketball team moved to 2-0 on the season with a 72-61 road win over Tulane (1-1) Thursday night.
Brittany Davis led the way for the Crimson Tide, recording her eighth career double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Hannah Barber added 12 points on the night, while Jada Rice tallied 10 points, four rebounds and three blocks.
Tulane was led by Marta Galic, who tallied nine points and eight rebounds in the game.
Alabama Head Coach Kristy Curry Said
"Road wins are hard. I thought our team really found a way to win down the stretch. We were up 23 with six or so to go. I want to finish the game better, but I was pleased with our ability to do the little things down the stretch to find a way. A lot to learn from tonight and we can just continue to move forward and get back to work tomorrow."

- Davis recorded her second consecutive 20-plus point game this season, scoring 24 points in the victory while adding 11 rebounds
- In addition to Davis, Barber and Rice tallied double-digit points in the game with Barber posting 12 points and Rice chipping in 10
- UA shot 45.2 percent from the floor and 40.9 percent from beyond the arc, while holding the Green Wave to 34.4 percent from the floor and 30 percent from beyond the three-point line
- Alabama held the lead for the entire game, with its largest lead (65-42) coming with 6:44 remaining in the fourth quarter
How It Happened
- Alabama opened the game with a 12-5 advantage as Davis scored 10 points in the first five and a half minutes of the game
- Tulane then capitalized on five Alabama turnovers to score eight points and cut the lead to 14-13 by the end of the first quarter
- UA emerged from the break with an 18-4 run that included a dozen unanswered points by the Tide to make it a 32-17 game
- Tulane broke an almost six-minute scoring drought with a three pointer with 2:07 left to play in the half
- Alabama held a 38-24 advantage heading into halftime
- The Tide kept its momentum coming out of the break, moving to a 52-33 with three minutes remaining in the third quarter
- Alabama slowly built its largest lead of the game, 65-42, with 6:44 to play, but Tulane answered with a 14-2 run to cut the score to 67-56 with three minutes left in the game
- The two teams traded points down the stretch, with the Tide finishing with a 72-61 victory

- Alabama will continue its road stretch, facing South Florida on Nov. 16
