Alabama Volleyball Returns Home to Face Mississippi State Saturday

The Crimson Tide will be welcoming back alumni from all eras of Alabama volleyball history
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama volleyball returns home this Saturday, facing Mississippi State at 2 p.m. CT in Foster Auditorium. The match is Alumni Day, as the Crimson Tide will be welcoming back alums from all eras of Alabama volleyball history.
This Weekend: vs. Mississippi State

- Saturday, Nov. 5 – 2 p.m. CT
Scouting Alabama
- Alabama returns home this Saturday, facing Mississippi State at 2 p.m. CT in Foster Auditorium
- The match is Alumni Day, as the Crimson Tide will be welcoming back alums from all eras of Alabama volleyball history
- Alabama is coming off a four-set road win Wednesday night at Texas A&M, rallying from a loss in the first set to win the next three over the Aggies
- Five of the seven remaining matches on the Crimson Tide's schedule will be in Tuscaloosa
- The Tide leads the SEC with 163 aces, while Abby Marjama leads the league and is second nationally with 57
- Alabama returns 14 players from last year's squad, including seniors Taylor Drapp, Emily Janek, Dru Kuck, Katie Shook and Alyiah Wells and fifth-year senior Marjama
- Newcomers this year include freshman Micah Gryniewicz, an AVCA All-Region honoree from Chandler, Ariz., and sophomore Maddy McCormick, who played at Colorado State last season
Last Time Out: at Texas A&M
- After falling in the first set, Alabama rallied to win the next three and earn the four-set win on the road at Texas A&M Wednesday night in Reed Arena
- The win snapped a five-game streak by Texas A&M in the all-time series and is just the second road win for Alabama against the Aggies, last doing so on Oct. 26, 2018
- Alabama had three players with double-digit kills, led by 14 from Alyiah Wells
- Kendyl Reaugh tallied her sixth double-double of the season and third in SEC play with 13 kills and 15 digs
- Abby Marjama led the team with five aces while Sami Jacobs tied her season high with three, all coming consecutively in the second set
- Emily Janek also earned a double-double with 40 assists and 10 digs along with seven blocks, including a career-high five solo
Alabama Aces
- Alabama leads the SEC in service aces (163) and aces-per-set (1.85)
- Individually, Abby Marjama leads the individual rankings with 57 (0.68/set), which is 26 more than the next-highest total
- The Tide is one of five power five teams with over 160 aces and Marjama is one of just seven players nationally with over 50
- Nationally, the Crimson Tide is 19th in total aces 21st in aces-per-set
- Marjama is second nationally in total aces and fourth in aces-per-set
Career Milestones
- Abby Marjama has 57 aces this season, beating her previous single-season high of 48 from her freshman season at UC Irvine and putting her nine away from the UA single-season top 10
- 117 of Marjama's aces have come with the Crimson Tide, which is nine shy of the career top 10
- Alyiah Wells earned the 300th block of her career in the Oct. 22 match against Georgia, currently sitting at 312 while averaging 1.08 blocks-per-set this season
- Brooke Slusser is only nine assists shy of the 1,100 mark for her career and 175 away from tying her total from last season
- Dru Kuck has 878 career digs, including 431 with the Crimson Tide
