Alabama Women’s Basketball Rallies to Take a 61-58 Victory Over Wake Forest in Pink Flamingo Championship

Megan Abrams led the team with 14 points, while Brittany Davis recorded 12 points and Jada Rice adding 11 in the victory
NASSAU, Bahamas – In a game that saw 11 lead changes and six ties, the Alabama women's basketball team emerged victorious, taking a 61-58 victory over Wake Forest (3-3) on Wednesday on the final day of the Pink Flamingo Championship.
Megan Abrams, who converted a three-point play with four seconds left in regulation for the game-winning points, tallied her second consecutive double-figure game, pacing Alabama (3-2) with 14 points. Davis recorded 12 points and seven rebounds, while Jada Rice posted 11 points, three blocks and two rebounds.
Wake Forest had three players reach double-figures as Demeara Hinds had 18 points, Jewel Spear had 16 and Kaia Harrison had 12 points.

I'm just really proud of our team. I think that's what really good teams do, is find a way to win games that are a little ugly at times. I just really complimented our team on making plays down the stretch."

- The contest had 11 lead changes and six ties in the game, including six lead changes alone in the fourth quarter
- Abrams recorded her second consecutive double-figure game and third this season
- The difference in the game came down to free throws as both the Tide and the Deacs made 23 field goals and five three pointers
- Alabama was 10-of-17 from the free throw line while Wake Forest made 7-of-12 from the charity stripe
How It Happened
- After a 5-2 Wake Forest start, Jada Rice recorded back-to-back layups to give UA a 6-5 lead at 4:09 on the clock
- The Deacs, however, outscored the Tide 13-4 to close the quarter with an eight-point advantage (18-10)
- Three layups from Rice in the opening four minutes of the second quarter highlighted a 13-5 run by the Tide that tied the game at 23-23 (3:49)
- With two minutes left in the half, Megan Abrams converted a three-point play to give UA its first lead since the opening quarter (26-25)
- Rice (10) and Abrams (6) combined for 16 points in the half as UA headed into the break trailing 28-26
- Six points from Brittany Davis and a layup from Abrams again put UA in the lead (34-31)
- Alabama would continue to build its advantage, recording a 13-7 spurt over the next four and a half minutes to take a nine-point lead (47-38) with less than two minutes remaining in the quarter
- Wake Forest would battle back to make it a one-possession game by the end of the quarter with UA leading 48-45
- The two teams saw six lead changes and a tie in the fourth quarter of play
- A layup from Loyal McQueen gave UA the lead (53-52) with 4:27 to play
- Wake Forest kept it a one-possession game until time expired, including tying the Crimson Tide at 58-58 with 17 seconds on the clock
- Another three-point play from Abrams with four seconds on the clock capped the game and gave the Tide the win
