
Alabama Swimming and Diving Breaks Another School Record at Art Adamson Invitational

Charlie Hawke broke the school 200 freestyle record three times on Thursday, going 1:32.24 in prelims, 1:31.92 in finals to become the first UA swimmer under 1:32.0 and closing the night with a 1:31.89 to lead off the Tide’s 800 freestyle relay
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Alabama swimmer Charlie Hawke kept the record breaking going on the second day of the Art Adamson Invitational in College Station, Texas Thursday, winning the 200 freestyle with his second school mark of the day in the event, before closing the night with a third record leading off UA's 800 freestyle relay.
Hawke went 1:32.24 in the prelims of the 200 freestyle to break the mark of 1:32.76 set by Robert Howard in 2019. He then came back in finals and buried his own record, going 1:31.92 to become the first UA swimmer under 1:32.0 in the event. He then swam a 1:31.89 to lead off the Tide's winning 800 freestyle relay (6:16.42) that included Kacper Piotrowski, Cam Auerbach and Kaique Alves.
Victor Johansson got the Tide's record breaking going, breaking the school 500 freestyle mark on Wednesday.
Alabama in the Championship Finals of the WVU Invite
- All four Crimson Tide divers in action at the WVU Invite this week made the championship finals of their respective events Thursday, notching a pair victories
- Peter Edin scored 326.80 points to win the men's 1-meter title
- The Crimson Tide went 1-3-6 in the championship final of women's 3-meter with Ryleigh Rodgers (321.90) getting the win, Alexandra Warshaw (276.90) taking third and Courtney Russo (263.15) finishing sixth
The Tide in the A Final at The Art Adamson Invitational
- After winning the 400 medley relay on Wednesday, the Crimson Tide women made it a medly sweep, with Rhyan White, Avery Wiseman, Morgan Scott and Kalia Antoniou going 1:35.10 to take top honors in the 200
- White (50.84) took second, Scott (52.39) finished third with a career-best time that ranks her second all-time at UA, and Emily Jones (52.86) took seventh with a time that ranks her fourth all-time at UA in the A final of the women's 100 backstroke
- In the A final of the women's 100 breaststroke, Wiseman (1:00.15) takes second and Jocelyn Fisher (1:00.56) finished sixth with a career-best time that ranks her ninth all-time at UA
- In the A final of the men's 100 backstroke, Matt Menke (45.71) finished second, Eric Stelmar (47.00) took fourth and Jake Marcum (47.49) was seventh
- Derek Maas turned in a 51.95 to finish second and Trey Sheils went 53.39 to finish seventh in the A final of the men's 100 breaststroke
- Antoniou went a career-best 1:45.98 to take third in the A final of the 200 freestyle, which ranks her sixth all-time at UA
- The Tide men put three in the A final of the 100 butterfly, with Mateo Miceli (46.79) taking third, Bernardo Bondra de Almeida (46.95) finishing fourth and Linus Kahl (47.17) taking seventh
- Alabama put three in the A final of the women's 100 butterfly, with White (51.89) touching in third place, followed by Scott (52.26) in fourth with a career-best time that ranks her fifth all-time at UA, and Emily Jones (53.57) who finished seventh
- In addition to Hawke's win in the 200 freestyle, Kaique Alves went a career-best 1:34.22 to take fifth in the A final and rank fourth all-time for the Tide, while Kacper Piotrowski (1:34.97) was sixth and Cam Auerbach (1:36.72) was seventh
Art Adamson Invitational
- The invitational comes to a close Friday with prelims starting at 9:30 a.m., CT and finals getting underway at 5:30 p.m.
- The invitational is being held at the Rec Center Natatorium and will include six teams - Alabama, Texas A&M, Air Force, LSU, TCU and USC
- Results can be found on Meet Mobile and the meet will be streamed on SEC Network+
WVU Invite
- The invite runs through Saturday, with diving starting at 11:30 p.m. CT on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday
- The Invite will be held at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park
