Alabama faces the Jaguars for the Tide’s first road game of the 2022-23 campaign
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama will stay in-state for its first road contest of the season as the Tide face South Alabama at the Mitchell Center in Mobile. The Crimson Tide moved up the national rankings to No. 18 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and No. 16 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.Â
The Broadcast
Monday's game will be aired on the ESPNU with Mike Morgan (play-by-play) and Mark Wise (analyst) on the call.
The radio broadcast can be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network with Chris Stewart (play-by-play) and Bryan Passink (analyst) on the call, while Tom Stipe (engineer) is turning the dials. The pregame show will begin one hour prior to tipoff.

- The Crimson Tide's game against South Alabama will be head coach Nate Oats' 100th career game at Alabama.Â
- Alabama ranks No. 1 in the country in rebounds per game (56.0), defensive rebounds per game (39.0) and rebound margin (25.5).
- Alabama's newcomers have scored 148 of the Tide's 170 points this season.
- The Crimson Tide's Brandon Miller is one of two players in the SEC that is currently averaging a double-double (Trevon Brazile, Arkansas) as Miller is averaging 17.0 ppg and an SEC-best 10.5 rpg.
- Alabama welcomes the highest ranked recruiting class in program history, including McDonald's High School All-Americans Jaden Bradley and Brandon Miller, along with four-start prospects Noah Clowney and Rylan Griffen.Â
- The Tide is one of seven schools in the country (Arizona, Creighton, Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina and UCLA) to have a player named on the Bob Cousy, Julius Erving and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar watch lists this preseason.
- The 2022-23 Crimson Tide roster features four McDonald's All-Americans. In addition to Bradley (2022) and Miller (2022), Nimari Burnett (2020) and Quinerly (2019) also earned the national honor. It is the most McDonald's All-Americans on the same roster in program history.
- In addition to the four freshmen, Alabama also added transfers Mark Sears from Ohio, Dom Welch from St. Bonaventure and Nick Pringle from Dodge City CC, who was rated as the No. 1 JUCO power forward prospect in the country.Â
- Up Next: The Tide will return to Coleman Coliseum to face in-state foe Jacksonville State on Nov. 18. The Crimson Tide will then travel to Portland, Ore. to compete in the Phil Knight Invitational.
About South Alabama
- South Alabama welcomes seven newcomers to the program for the 2022-23 season. Five are transfers, including three from the Division II level and two freshmen. Ten states are represented on the roster, including two international countries (Barbuda and Australia). Florida is the only state with multiple players (2). The roster consists of two freshmen, two sophomores, one junior, four seniors and four graduate seniors.
- South was picked to finish third in the Sun Belt preseason poll. The Jags finished fifth in the conference last year with a 9-7 record.
- South Alabama was the only Sun Belt team to finish last season in the top three in both scoring offense (71.5) and scoring defense (63.8).
- The Jaguars placed two players on the Preseason All Sun Belt teams. Kevin Samuel was named to the first-team, and Greg Parham II was voted to the second team.
- Newcomer Kevin Samuel is one of three current players in the NCAA with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds (Armando Bacot, UNC & Jayveous McKinnis, Ole Miss). Samuel is the active leader in NCAA for career rebounds with 1,060 and he holds the career blocks record at TCU (206).
- The Jaguars will host the University of Alabama on November 15 for the first time in program history. South Alabama is 1-3 all-time against the Crimson Tide, with their lone win coming in the 1989 NCAA Tournament. In last year's matchup, Alabama won in Tuscaloosa 73-68.
