Kynadie Adams tied for fourth with Sarah Edwards just behind in seventh
MEDINAH, Ill. – Two Alabama golfers finished among the top-10 individuals, leading the Alabama women's golf team to an eighth-place finish Tuesday following the final round of action at the Illini Women's Golf Invitational at Medinah. Freshman Kynadie Adams tied for fourth while senior Sarah Edwards tied for seventh as the duo led the Crimson Tide to a 54-hole score of 843 (273-283-287).
Adams' round of 4-under par 68 Tuesday marked the lowest for any UA golfer on the day and gave the Nashville, Tenn., native her third consecutive round in the 60s. She finished the event with an 11-under par 205 (68-69-68). Meanwhile, Edwards held the clubhouse lead entering the day after carding a career-best 36-hole total of 11-under par 133, the second-best two-round score in program history. She finished at 1-over par Tuesday to result in a 10-under par 206 (66-67-73). Benedetta Moresco was the third UA golfer to finish below par with a 3-under 213 (69-73-71) and tied for 26th overall.
Isabella van der Biest (70-74-75/219) and Taylor Kehoe (74-74-75/223) rounded out the UA golfers tying for 58th and 72nd place, respectively.
Head Coach Mic Potter Said
"It is a mixed bag kind of feeling. We had a terrific start and held a lead midway through the second round. We were as low as 15-under and if you told me coming in that we would finish at 21-under par, I would be ecstatic. But then we had the lead, and we couldn't get it done today. We didn't hit the putts we were making yesterday and hit some tough shots into the wind. For us right now, it's all a learning experience. As long as we come away from a tournament having gotten the message – today it was executing better and do the little things we have to in order to compete against elite competition – then it will all be worth it. I love this team. I think we have a great group of student-athletes who are willing to give the type of effort that is needed to succeed."
