ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Alabama dropped to No. 15/14 Georgia, 72-68, in a tight contest down the stretch in Athens, Ga., Sunday. The Crimson Tide fell to 10-5 (1-3), while the Lady Bulldogs improved to 13-3 (2-2).
Four Crimson Tide players scored in double figures, while Brittany Davis paced the team on 18 points, with all her scoring production coming on 3-pointers and in the first half. The senior shot 6-of-9 from the arc in the game, marking a career high 3-pointers for the senior, while she also tacked on four rebounds. Taylor Sutton rallied 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including a trio of 3-pointers. Hannah Barber had 12 points on four from the arc, while Jada Rice added 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting and 4-of-6 from the line.
Alabama earned its first lead in the game early in the first quarter, after Davis knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, and the Crimson Tide held on to that lead for more than 32 minutes in the game. Georgia made its charge late in the second half, outscoring Alabama, 43-20, in that time. The Lady Bulldogs made it official after knocking down five free throws in the final two minutes, while the Crimson Tide went on a scoring drought.
