AUBURN, Ala. – The University of Alabama women's basketball team will hit the road to rematch Auburn in Auburn Arena Sunday, Jan. 23 at 3:02 p.m. CT. The contest will be broadcast on ESPNU, with Courtney Lyle and Carolyn Peck on the call.
The Crimson Tide is 10-8 this season, including 1-6 in the Southeastern Conference. The Tide will look to claim its second road win and first SEC road win of the season on The Plains. Alabama is coming off a loss to Arkansas, 99-71, in Coleman Coliseum last Thursday. Despite the program being without starter and veteran Megan Abrams due to COVID-19 protocol, two players produced 20-plus point scoring games.
Eclipsing 20 points for just the second time this season, JaMya Mingo-Young recorded 22 points on a fierce 10-of-13 shooting, including 2-of-3 from long range. Nine of her 22 points came in the fourth quarter when the junior transfer connected on a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and 1-of-1 from the arc. Mingo-Young added five rebounds to her stat line against the Razorbacks. Brittany Barber rallied 20 points in the game, in part thanks to her five makes from downtown, while she also managed to collect eight boards and dish out a pair of assists.
Since the conference schedule began, Davis has led the team in scoring average (15.7) and in rebound average (7.9). Mingo-Young follows with 11.6 points per game, while Barber has stepped up in point production since the turn of the year on 10.0 points per game. Davis and Barber both rank in the SEC top five in three-point field goals per game with 2.44 and 2.29, respectively.
