
Men’s Tennis Opens 2021 Fall Season with Alabama Four-In-The-Fall

The Crimson Tide welcomes three teams to Tuscaloosa for a three-day tournament, starting Sept. 17 at 10 a.m.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team will open the 2021-22 season Friday with the Alabama Four-In-The-Fall Tournament. The Crimson Tide will compete against athletes from LSU, Memphis and Princeton at the three-day tournament.
Matches will begin at 10 a.m. on all three days at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
Should match play move indoors, all spectators, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a face covering in accordance with the UA campus requirement. Masks will not be mandated outdoors.

A stream for the matches will be provided at RollTide.com. Results will also be updated throughout the tournament on Alabama's website.
The Tournament
- Competition will begin at 10 a.m. on all three days
- UA will play against members from Memphis on Friday, LSU on Saturday and Princeton on Sunday
The Returners
- Senior Patrick Kaukovalta and sophomore Rudi Christiansen return to Alabama for the 2021-22 season
- Kaukovalta posted an 18-16 overall record and a 12-9 dual record in doubles last season
- The senior also recorded 15 singles wins, nine of which were in dual matches, including defeating #45 Florian Broska and #50 Martim Prata during the season
- Christiansen joined the program in the spring, competing in seven matches and posting a 6-1 overall singles record
- He went undefeated in doubles matches with partner Sam Fischer, going 4-0 in the spring
The New Faces
- Alabama welcomes six new faces to the program
- Graduate student Juan Martin joins the program from TCU while sophomore transfer Joao Ferreira comes to UA from Lynn
- The Crimson Tide also welcomes freshmen Enzo Aguiard, Zach Foster, Filip Planinsek and German Samofalov
- Samofalov leads the team in the International Tennis Federation latest rankings, ranking 54th in the world among junior competitors

Alabama heads to Starkville, Miss., to compete in the Bulldog Invitational. The tournament will begin Friday, Oct. 1 and will run through Sunday, Oct.3.
