Alabama Men’s Tennis Concludes Opening Day of Alabama Four-In-The-Fall

The Crimson Tide had three doubles teams record wins and five players post wins in singles matches
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team kicked off its season Friday, opening the Alabama Four-In-The-Fall Tournament at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
The Crimson Tide started the day with three doubles teams finding wins. Enzo Aguiard and Filip Planinsek topped Memphis duo David Stevenson and Jeremy Taylor 6-2. Patrick Kaukovalta and German Samofalov went 6-3 against Oscar Cubitt and Pau Fanlo as Joao Ferreira and Juan Martin recorded a commanding 6-1 win against Pablo Alemany Malea and Harry Rock.
In the singles matches, the Tide won five of seven matchups, with Planinsek leading the charge with a two-set, 7-5, 6-3 win against Stevenson. Samofalov battled through three sets against Alemany, going 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, while Christiansen topped Sam Edgar 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. Ferreira captured a three-set win, which included a second-set tiebreak, against Taylor. Ferreira went 3-6, 7-6 (6), 7-5 to win the match. Aguiard rounded out the day, defeating Cutting 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-4.
UA will return to action tomorrow for day two of the Alabama Four-In-The-Fall with matches beginning at 10 a.m.
