
Alabama Soccer Hosts Lamar, Southern Miss in Weekend Matches

The Crimson Tide plays Lamar Friday at 7 p.m. CT, before competing against Southern Miss Sunday at 1 p.m. CT
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team (1-1-0) opens a three-game homestand on Friday at 7 p.m. CT against Lamar (1-1-0) at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. The Crimson Tide will then host Southern Miss (1-1-0) on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.

Against Lamar
- This is the second meeting between Alabama and Lamar
- Lamar hosted the Crimson Tide in September of 2019 in Beaumont, Texas
- Alabama won that meeting 5-0 to post a 1-0-0 advantage in the series
- UA outshot the Cardinals 34-7 with 22 landing on frame as five different members of the Alabama soccer team found the back of the net that day
Against Southern Miss
- Alabama leads the series 4-1-0 against Southern Miss
- Sunday's game is the fifth meeting in Tuscaloosa between the two teams as Alabama holds a 4-0-0 home record against the Golden Eagles
- The two teams last met in 2015 with Alabama winning the home match 1-0
- In the 2015 game, Alabama took 22 shots with 10 on goal, while Southern Miss rattled off six with five on frame
- UA had nine corners to the Golden Eagles one
- That game capped a three-game winning streak in the series for the Tide, who also won home matches in 2000 and 2007

- Alabama opened the season Thursday (Aug. 19) with a 4-0 win against Jacksonville State, before suffering a 4-0 loss to No. 1 Florida State Sunday (Aug. 22)

Scouting Lamar Cardinals
- The Cardinals opened the season with a 3-1 win over Grambling State with Isela Ramirez, Makenzie Harvey and Carina Leal scoring goals
- Nicole Panis has tallied 15 saves over two games for Lamar
- The team is coming off a 4-0 loss to Oklahoma
- Lamar was picked to finish second in its first season in the Western Athletic Conference
- The team posted an 8-4 record last season including a 7-3 record in Southland Conference play
Scouting Southern Miss
- Southern Miss opened the season with a 2-1 loss to LSU before topping Grambling State 1-0
- Blessing Kingsley and Ryan Smith scored goals for the Cardinals, with Kingsley finding the net against LSU and Smith against Grambling State
