
Alabama Soccer Faces No. 1 Florida State on Road Sunday

The Crimson Tide will battle the Seminoles for just the second time in program history
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team (1-0-0) will face top-ranked Florida State (1-0-0) in its first road competition of the season on Sunday. The two teams kick off at 12 p.m. CT at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Tallahassee, Fla.

The Series
- The two teams will meet for just the second time in program history Sunday
- Alabama won the lone meeting during the 2017 season, topping the Seminoles in a home match, 1-0
- The win was the first for Alabama over a top-10 opponent as FSU entered the match ranked sixth
Last Time Out
- Alabama opened the season Thursday with a 4-0 win over Jacksonville State
- The Crimson Tide extended its record against the Gamecocks to 11-0
- Four different athletes scored in the game with Ashlynn Serepca notching a goal and an assist to lead the team
- Reyna Reyes, Macy Clem and Leah Kunde also netted goals for the Tide
- McKinley Crone and Brooke Bollinger split time in goal with both tallying one save
- Alabama outshot the Gamecocks 25-5, with 14 of the Tide's attempts landing on frame
The Crimson Tide
- Alabama welcomes 14 new faces to the program while returning 15 from the 2020-21 squad
- The Tide returns leading goal scorer Felicia Knox (4) and assist leaders Clem and Kat Rogers (4 each) from last season
- Knox also led the team in points with 10 while Clem ranked second with eight
- Alabama had four players highlighted on the 2021 SEC Preseason Watch List
- Forward Serepca, midfielders Clem and Knox and defender Reyes received the nod from the Crimson Tide
- Reyes was named to the preseason watch list for the second consecutive year
- Virginia transfer Serepca, junior Clem and sophomore Knox earned the honor for the first time
Scouting Florida State
- The 2020-21 NCAA runner-up enters Sunday's match as the No. 1 team in the country, according to the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll
- Florida State went 13-1-2 last season, advancing to the National Championship game where the Seminoles fell in penalty kicks to Santa Clara
- Midfielders Jaelin Howell and Yujie Zhao both earned All-ACC preseason team recognition
- Last season, Howell was named the ACC Midfielder of the Year and earned First Team All-America honors. She was also named the Mac Hermann Award winner.
- Zhao earned All-ACC First Team honors, was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region First Team, was a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American and a College Cup All-Tournament Team selection
- FSU topped No. 9 Texas A&M in its season opener with Clara Robbins putting the Seminoles on the scoreboard in the 89th minute
