
Alabama Athletics Tops CBS Sports Best in College Sports for 2020-21

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Following one of its best seasons in program history, Alabama Athletics was named Best in College Sports by CBS Sports for 2020-21. The Crimson Tide won the honor by scoring 583.75 points and was followed by Oklahoma (473.75 points) and Iowa (463.25 points). Alabama's 110-point margin was one of the largest margins of victory in the history of the award.
Earlier this month, the Tide placed seventh in the Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings, its highest finish in program history, after 18 of its 21 teams advanced to national postseason competition.
Alabama celebrated another national and SEC team championship in football as well as league titles in men's basketball, gymnastics and softball. The Tide also had several individual national titles won in cross country, swimming, gymnastics and track and national and conference award winners in a multitude of sports.
Thirteen UA teams ended the season in the top 25 nationally including six in the top five – football (1), softball (3), women's outdoor track & field (4), men's basketball (5), gymnastics (5) and women's swimming and diving (5). Two more finished in the top 10 – men's indoor track and field (7) and women's cross country (8) – to give Alabama eight national finishes between first and eighth. Other top-25 finishers include men's outdoor track and field (13), rowing (14), men's swimming and diving (15), women's indoor track and field (16) and women's golf (24).
