Alabama Track and Field Closes 2021 Outdoor Regular Season at LSU Invitational

The Crimson Tide posted more than a dozen top-three finishes on the day
BATON ROUGE, La. – Alabama men's and women's track and field closed its outdoor regular season Saturday at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, La.
The Crimson Tide came away from the one-day event with more than a dozen top-three finishes, including Demetrius Jackson's win in the men's 200 meters. In addition, Cherisse Murray took first among collegians in the women's shot put, while Sydney Milani posted the top collegiate time in the 400-meter hurdles.
Crimson Tide Medalists
- Demetrius Jackson won the men's 200 meters in a time of 20.62
- Alabama went 1-2-3 among collegians in the women's shot put, with Cherisse Murray taking top honors with a 55-00.0 (16.76m), followed by Taylor Gorum (53-01.5/16.19m) and Nickolette Dunbar (53-00.00/16.15m)
- Sydney Milani posted the top collegiate time in the women's 400-meter hurdles, turning in a 1:00.05
- Keshun McGee (49-05.25/15.09m) and Christian Edwards (49-05.00/15.06m), took second and third, respectively, in the triple jump
- Taylor Gorum finished second in the discus with a throw 171-03 (52.19 meters)
- In the men's shot put, Chago Basso posted a throw of 60-07.25 (18.47 meters) to take second, while Josiah Harry (56-03.75/17.16m) finished fourth and Nathan Cooper (54-05.5/16.60m) finished fifth
- Jace Jones (3:50.76) finished second and Garrett Suhr (3:53.49) ran fourth in the men's 1,500 meters
- Champion Allison ran a 46.47 to take second among collegians in the men's 400 meters
- Kieran McKeag posted a throw of 224-09 (68.50m) and Bobby Colantonio Jr. went 212-10 (64-87m) in the men's hammer throw to take third and fifth, respectively
- Basso (172-00/52.44m) took third, Harry (170-02/51.87m) finished fifth and Harrison Dimick (156-03/47.63m) was ninth in the discus
Other Top-10 Finishes
- Jake Spotswood cleared 15-11.75 (4.87m) in the men's pole vault to take fourth place
- Kristen Hopkins finished fifth in the women's javelin with a throw of 125-11 (38.38m)
- Allison Wilson ran a 4:41.41 in the women's 1,500 meters to take fourth
- Daija Lampkin finished fifth among collegians in the women's 100 meters with an 11.72
- Matthew Weaver ran a 53.33 in the men's 400-meter hurdles to finish seventh
- Christal Mosley (53.73) took eighth and Katie Funcheon (54.45) was 10th in the women's 400 meters
- Sophie Spada (2:09.36), Lauren Turner (2:09.87) and Margot Dooley (2:10.15) finished eighth, ninth and 10th, respectively, in the women's 800 meters
- Mark Shannon (1:54.61) and Grady Shiflet (1:55.94) took ninth and 10th, respectively, in the men's 800 meters
- Daija Lampkin ran a 23.84 to take 10th in the women's 200 meters
