
Montana Fouts and Bailey Hemphill Named Top 25 Finalists for 2021 USA Softball Player of the Year

Alabama is one of just five schools with multiple finalists
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball's Montana Fouts and Bailey Hemphill are among the top 25 finalists for the 2021 USA Softball Player of the Year, it was announced Friday.
Fouts and Hemphill were Player of the Year finalists in 2019 and were also on last year's preseason list. Alabama is one of just five schools with multiple finalists, along with Arkansas, Oklahoma, UCLA and Washington. The Top 10 Finalists will be announced May 5 and the Top Three announced May 19. The 2021 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed June 1.
MONTANA FOUTS 2021 HIGHLIGHTS
- 14-3, 1.66 ERA, 118.0 IP, 88 H, 28 ER, 181 SO, 33 BB
- Has 10 or more strikeouts in 10 games this season
- Her 181 strikeouts rank second in the SEC and eighth nationally
- Has ranked wins over LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Arkansas (x2) and Florida
BAILEY HEMPHILL 2021 HIGHLIGHTS
- 40 GS, 41-for-103 (.398), 5 2B, 8 HR, 38 RBI, 31 BB
- Became Alabama's career walks leader and is two home runs shy of tying that record
- Top 10 in the SEC in batting average, walks, on base percentage, RBIs and runners caught stealing
