TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After trailing early, Alabama rallied to tie the game at 2-2 but Florida answered back with seven unanswered to defeat the Crimson Tide, 9-2, and clinch the weekend series.
Alabama (32-7, 11-6 SEC) fell behind in the third inning after Florida (32-5, 12-2 SEC) scored two runs but answered back to tie it in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single from Kaylee Tow with some heads-up baserunning from KB Sides as the trailing runner to score on the throw back down to second as Tow tried to advance a base. The Gators retook the lead with a run on a wild pitch in the fifth and remained in front for the remainder of the game.
In addition to the run scored, Sides also had a hit to extend her hitting streak to eight games, tying her career-long set last season, and her reached base streak to a team-leading 17 games. Bailey Hemphill drew a pair of walks to improve her career total to 208, four shy of Auburn's Kasey Cooper for third all-time in SEC history. Krystal Goodman (4-1) threw 4.1 innings in the start, taking the loss while Natalie Lugo (10-1) got the win for the Gators and Katie Chronister earned the three-inning save.
