First Varsity 4+ Posts Dominant Win to Close Weekend in Nevada for Alabama Rowing

The Crimson Tide First Varsity 4+ defeats Cal and USC by nearly eight seconds
HENDERSON, Nev. – A win in the First Varsity 4+ highlighted day two action for eighth-ranked Alabama Rowing at the Lake Las Vegas Pac-12 Women's Invitational.
Racing against fifth-ranked Cal and USC, who is receiving votes in this week's rankings, the First Varsity 4+ improved on its time from yesterday to cross the line with a winning mark of 7:14.94 on Sunday, almost eight full seconds ahead of the Golden Bears and Trojans. The Crimson Tide's remaining crews each finished second, including the Second Varsity 4+ (7:28.98), First Varsity 8+ (6:25.20) and Second Varsity 8+ (6:35.29).
Yesterday, Alabama faced off against No. 1 Washington and No. 20 Oregon State, placing second in each of its four races.

"Today was another strong day for the Tide highlighted by a dominant performance by our Varsity 4+. All the crews came out and raced hard against two strong opponents and, while at the end of the regatta we would have wanted to come out with more wins, we were encouraged by how we raced against some of the best teams in the country. We know we have work to do between now and our next challenge but we are eager to improve and grateful for the opportunity to race. Lake Las Vegas Rowing Club and the Pac-12 put on a great event!"
