The Crimson Tide earned its fourth consecutive shutout win to begin the spring 2021 slate
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama sophomore Reyna Reyes scored the game-winning goal in overtime to help the women's soccer team remain undefeated by silencing Lipscomb, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. With the win, the Crimson Tide recorded its fourth consecutive shutout win, and the first in overtime, during the spring season.
Alabama entered the first half strong, firing five shots against Lipscomb's three. The Tide maintained the advantage in corner kicks as well, earning four compared to Lipscomb's two. UA goalkeeper McKinley Crone made a crucial save in the 44th minute to keep the game scoreless at intermission.
Despite it being a defensive battle between the two squads, the Crimson Tide dominated the second half. Alabama recorded four shots and three corner kicks for the half, while Lipscomb totaled one shot and one corner kick for the half.
The golden goal came in the 2nd minute of overtime after defender Bella Scaturro found the ball just wide of the 18 yard box and crossed it into Reyes, whose shot found the back of the net after volleying the ball past the goalkeeper.
