Alabama’s Tyler Barnes Named to SEC Men’s Basketball Community Service Team

Barnes named Alabama’s representative after the number of hours spent serving the community throughout his four-year career
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama senior forward Tyler Barnes was named to the Southeastern Conference's Community Service Team for men's basketball, the league office announced on Thursday. Barnes is Alabama's representative on the 14-man team that honors players' exemplary service to their communities.
Tyler Barnes Community Service
- Has always been involved in community service projects during his time at Alabama and leads by example both on and off the court
- A member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee at UA
- One of the team leaders in in community service hours during the 2018-19 season
- Donated his time in 2019 to help with the Lee County Tornado cleanup efforts
- Participated in the Smile A Mile program which benefits children diagnosed with cancer & their families, helping them thrive during treatment
- Has also participated in Liftoff Day and thank-a-thons throughout his four years wearing the crimson and white.
- Maintains a 4.0 GPA as a chemical engineering major
- A three-year member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and has earned a spot on the President's List and Dean's List throughout his career
This marks the 23rd year for the SEC Community Service Team for men's basketball as well as for women's basketball. All 21 league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
