Tanna Sanchez-Carreto scores a goal late in the game for the Crimson Tide
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team fell 2-1 to Auburn at the Alabama Soccer Stadium Saturday as the Crimson Tide hosted the 30th meeting between the two teams.
Alabama got the on the board late, earning a corner kick inside the final minute of play. Junior Kat Rogers put the ball in the center of the box for sophomore Reyna Reyes to head the ball to the back post. Tanna Sanchez-Carreto hit a low shot into the left corner of the net.
Auburn's Sydney Richards recorded the first goal of the game, collecting a blocked shot from Alyssa Malonson that bounced to the top of the box. Richards sent the ball through traffic to the opposite post to give Auburn a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute of play.
The Tigers found their second goal in the 54th minute of play. Anna Haddock played a fast-paced ball to Hailey Whitaker at the top of the box. Whitaker turned, striking the ball on the bounce to move Auburn ahead 2-0.
