
Alabama Men’s Golf Hopes to Ride Momentum into Old Waverly Collegiate

The Crimson Tide looks to follow up its second-place finish at the Auburn Invitational last week with a solid showing in Starkville
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After finishing second overall at last week's Tiger Invitational, the Alabama men's golf team will compete in the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship. The tournament, which is hosted by Mississippi State, will be played Friday through Sunday, March 26-28, at the par 72, 7,088-yard Old Waverly Golf Club.
Most recently, the Crimson Tide placed second overall out of 17 teams at the Tiger Invitational. Alabama finished with a team total of 24-under par 840 (276-283-281), just two strokes back from Auburn (838). Senior Wilson Furr led the Tide with his 9-under par 207 (64-70-73) that landed him tied for third place.
About the Old Waverly Collegiate Classic
- The three-day, 54-hole stroke tournament features 15 total teams with nine of the teams coming from the Southeastern Conference
- Other participating teams include: No. 29 Alabama, No. 22 Arkansas, Arkansas Little Rock, East Tennessee State, No. 10 Georgia, Kansas State, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, No. 20 Tennessee, No. 18 Texas Tech, No. 7 Texas A&M, No. 9 Vanderbilt
- Alabama will tee of on hole No. 1 Friday at 9:40 a.m. CT and will be paired alongside Arkansas and LSU

The Alabama Lineup
- Alabama's starting five include Wilson Furr, Thomas Ponder, Canon Claycomb, JP Cave and Jack Goldasich
- Simms Abney will also be on the trip and compete as an individual
- Furr leads the team in stroke average (70.50) and average vs. par (-1.00) and is ranked No. 39 in the nation entering the tournament
- Ponder, ranked No. 50, is just behind at 70.56 strokes per round followed by Canon Claycomb at 71.87
