
Alabama Rowing Continues Season with Two Days of Racing at Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational

Racing begins Saturday morning at 8 a.m. CT
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – Alabama rowing continues its spring season with two days of racing at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational March 13-14, hosted by the University of Louisville.
Racing on Lake Melton begins Saturday morning at 8 a.m. CT with the Crimson Tide competing in five races against Minnesota and Tulsa. Alabama resumes later that day against Wisconsin and SMU starting at 2:45 p.m. The Tide concludes racing on Sunday at 10:20 a.m. against Tennessee and Indiana.
Almost exactly one year ago, the Tide was slated to head to the Cardinal Invitational before spring competition was suspended and ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is a great opportunity for us to get on the race course and check our speed against some of the best teams in the country. It is the premiere early-season regatta for women's collegiate rowing and we can't wait to line up for our first multi-team race of the season."

SCOUTING ALABAMA
- Alabama opened its spring season last weekend in Tuscaloosa against Eastern Michigan, sweeping the Eagles in the Varsity 4+ and Varsity 8+
- The Crimson Tide was ranked No. 16 in the Division I Pocock CRCA Preseason Poll, its highest ranking in program history
- The Tide entered 2020 with plenty of positive momentum from 2019, which saw the team earn a program-best second place finish at the Big 12 Championships under then-first year head coach Glenn Putyrae, who was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year
ALABAMA EARNS HIGHEST RANKING IN PROGRAM HISTORY
- Alabama rowing entered its 2021 spring season this weekend with its highest-ever ranking, coming in at No. 16 in the Division I Pocock CRCA Preseason Poll
- It is the highest mark in program history and the Crimson Tide's first appearance in the preseason rankings, previously earning votes outside the top 25 in last year's preseason poll
- Alabama made its first ever appearance in the top 25 in 2019, placing as high as 17th under then-first year head coach Glenn Putyrae, who is in his third season at the helm of the Tide this year
