Alabama Volleyball Wins in Five Sets Over Ole Miss for First Win in Oxford Since 2008

The Crimson Tide and Rebels rematch Saturday at 12 p.m. CT
OXFORD, Miss. – For the first time since 2008, Alabama defeated Ole Miss in Oxford Friday afternoon in five sets, 3-2.
Alabama's (3-8) last win over Ole Miss (0-9) in Oxford came on Oct. 12, 2008, with today's win breaking a eight-match losing streak on the road against the Rebels.
Alabama held the early lead in set one before Ole Miss scored four in a row to move in front and they held the advantage for the remainder of the frame, winning 25-13. The Rebels held the lead for the majority of the second until the Crimson Tide regained it late, 18-17, and held on to win, 25-22. Alabama held off a late surge from Ole Miss in the third, reaching set point twice before coming through with the 26-24 victory. The Rebels fought back late to take the fourth set, 25-23, forcing the Tide into its second-straight five set match. Alabama powered through in the deciding frame, winning 15-11.
Abby Marjama led the offense with a season-high 19 kills, adding 11 digs for her first double-double with the Crimson Tide. Emily Janek (45 assists, 17 digs) and Madelyn St. Germain (10 assists, 17 digs) also earned double-doubles. For the third-straight match, Alabama increased its season-high for team blocks, finishing with 14 today. Chaise Campbell led the defensive effort at the net with a season-best six, followed close behind by Janek and Alyiah Wells with five each.
