Lexi Kilfoyl started the day with her first career no-hitter and the 37th in program history
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball was dominant in the circle across a Saturday doubleheader shutout against North Carolina, with Lexi Kilfoyl throwing a no-hitter in a 2-0 win before Montana Fouts followed with a two-hit shutout and 12 strikeouts in a 4-0 game two decision.
Kilfoyl allowed just one walk in 7.0 innings of work, striking out eight for her first career no-hitter. It is the 37th in program history and already the second of the season for the Crimson Tide, following the combined perfect game from Fouts and Sarah Cornell on opening day at Alabama State.
Alabama's (13-0) two runs in the opening game against North Carolina (5-4) came on a solo home run from Bailey Hemphill, her first long ball of the season, and an RBI double from Kilfoyl to help her own cause. In game two, the teams were scoreless until the Tide capitalized on a two-out error in the bottom of the fourth, plating four unearned runs that ultimately were the difference in the 4-0 win.
