Former Alabama players continue to shine in week 12 of the 2021 NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 12th week of the National Football League season wrapped up Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
New England Patriots' rookie quarterback Mac Jones continued to impress. Jones helped extend the Patriots' winning streak to six with a victory over the Tennessee Titans. The first-year signal-caller finished 23-of-32 passing for 310 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the league in passer rating during Week 12 thanks to his impressive 123.2 mark.
The duo of Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle had another impressive showing in the Miami Dolphins' win over the Carolina Panthers. Tagovailoa completed 27-of-31 passes for 230 yards and one touchdown. Waddle, who has established himself as Tagovailoa's No. 1 target, hauled in nine catches for 137 yards and a touchdown.
On the ground, Josh Jacobs provided a solid performance for the Las Vegas Raiders. Jacobs rushed 22 times for 87 yards and one touchdown, while recording a pair of receptions for 25 yards. Thanks in part to Jacobs' efforts, the Raiders were able to come away with a Thanksgiving Day win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Several former Alabama defensive backs wreaked havoc in the secondary this past weekend. Leading the group was Patrick Surtain II of the Denver Broncos. The rookie's big day was highlighted by two interceptions, including one that he returned 70 yards for a touchdown. Surtain II also added five tackles and broke up two passes.
Ronnie Harrison led Cleveland in tackles with a team-high 14 stops on Monday Night Football. The veteran safety also broke up one pass and intercepted another for the Browns. Joining Harrison from the safety spot were Minkah Fitzpatrick and Xavier McKinney. Fitzpatrick tallied eight tackles to go with one interception and a pass breakup for the Pittsburgh Steelers, while McKinney notched eight tackles, picked off one pass and broke up two passes for the New York Giants.
