
Alabama Volleyball Falls at Home to Ole Miss Friday

The Crimson Tide and Rebels rematch Saturday at 2 p.m. CT at Foster Auditorium
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama volleyball fell in three sets to Ole Miss Friday at Foster Auditorium by set scores of 21-25, 21-25 and 17-25.
Alabama (10-19, 2-15 SEC) fought to a two-point deficit in the first set and took a late lead in in the second set over Ole Miss (20-8, 9-8 SEC) but the Rebels held on to win the first two and clinched the sweep with an eight-point decision in the third. Prior to the match, Alabama celebrated its two seniors Abby Marjama and Sarah Swanson on Senior Night. Marjama was second on the team with seven kills and five digs while Swanson led the net defense with three solo blocks.
Ole Miss took an early 6-1 lead but Alabama fought back within two at 12-10 before the Rebels surged back ahead 17-11 and the Tide took a timeout. Alabama made it a close game again in the closing moments, trailing 23-20 at Ole Miss' first team timeout but the Rebels held on for the 25-21 win.
Alabama took another early timeout in the second frame, trailing 8-3. The Tide fought within a point four times before tying the score at 15-15 and taking the lead soon after at 17-16. A service ace from Brooke Slusser made it 18-16 but the Rebels rebounded with a 4-0 run to take the lead back, 20-18. Ole Miss held on to win set to by the same score as the first, 25-21.
The Tide spent an early timeout trailing 9-3 in the third and the Rebels continued to pull away, eventually leading by double digits at 21-11. Alabama scored six points down the stretch but Ole Miss held on to win, 25-17, and take the match in three sets.
