TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 10th week of the National Football League season wrapped up Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Quarterback Mac Jones led the New England Patriots to a 45-7 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, finishing 19-of-23 for 198 yards and three touchdowns. His efficient performance propelled the rookie signal-caller to No. 4 in the league for completion percentage at 69.0 percent. Jones' former No. 1 wide receiver DeVonta Smith also posted a big week for the Eagles. Smith snagged four catches for a team-high 65 yards and two touchdowns in Philadelphia's 30-13 win over the Denver Broncos.
Two former Alabama running backs made an impact on their respective teams this week. Steelers' rookie Najee Harris totaled 26 carries for 106 yards and added four receptions for 28 yards in Pittsburgh's matchup with the Detroit Lions. Mark Ingram led New Orleans' rushing effort, racking up 47 yards and a touchdown on his 14 carries to become the Saints' all-time leader for rushing yards. The veteran tailback also contributed four receptions for 61 yards in the matchup with the Tennessee Titans.
The defensive effort was once again highlighted by Trevon Diggs. The Dallas corner added another interception to his season total, setting him at a league-high eight on the year. Diggs also had two tackles and a pass deflection in the Cowboys' 43-3 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
Dont'a Hightower led New England's defensive effort on Sunday, posting six tackles, half a sack, and one quarterback hit. The veteran linebacker contributed to a Patriot defense that limited Cleveland to only seven points in the game. In that same game, safety Ronnie Harrison led Cleveland's defensive effort, tallying six tackles, including one for loss.
Kansas City Chiefs' Jarran Reed rounded out the list of former Tide defenders.
