
Alabama Cross Country Puts Six on NCAA All-Region Team

The Crimson Tide put three men and three women on this year’s All-South Region team
NEW ORLEANS – The Alabama cross country team totaled six student-athletes on this year's NCAA All-South Region Team, including three men and three women.
Victor Kiprop, Eliud Kipsang and Hillary Cheruiyot earned the recognition for the men's team after leading the Crimson Tide to a second-place finish at the NCAA South Regional Championships and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
Mercy Chelangat, Flomena Asekol and Esther Gitahi earned the regional honor for the women after pacing UA to a third-place team finish in last Friday's race. The Tide went on to earn an at-large bid to this week's NCAA Championships.
The Tide men last earned a trio of All-Region honors in 2019 (Gilbert Kigen, Vincent Kiprop and Noel Rotich), while the women last earned three honors in a single season in 1999 (Dawn Boggs, Amanda Grout and Ashley LaBudde).
