
Alabama Soccer Faces Clemson In First Round of the NCAA Tournament

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team (10-9-1, 5-4-1 SEC) makes its fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament Friday as the team faces the Clemson Tigers (12-6-1, 6-3-1 ACC) in a 3 p.m. CT match at Historic Riggs Field in Clemson, S.C.

TICKETS
Tickets are available for the Friday's NCAA match through the Clemson ticket office. General admission for adults is $8, while the cost for children is $3.
AT THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
- The Crimson Tide makes its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance on Friday and second under head coach Wes Hart
- Alabama last advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2017 for the first meeting between Alabama and Clemson
- After a scoreless first half, Alabama netted a goal from Casey Wertz before the Tigers responded with back-to-back goals for the win
- The Tide also received a berth to the tournament in 1998 and 2011, where it faced Texas A&M and Miami, respectively
A SEASON OF HIGHLIGHTS
- Alabama is in the midst of one of its best seasons in over 20 years
- The Tide posted its best winning percentage in Southeastern Conference play since the 1998 season
- UA earned a first-round bye at the 2021 SEC Tournament after tying for fifth in the conference standings with a 5-4-1 record
- During the year, Alabama topped two top-25 opponents in then-No. 24 LSU and then-No. 19 Auburn
- The team set a program record for most home wins in a single season with 10 as it finished the regular season on a seven-game winning streak at the Alabama Soccer Stadium
- In addition to its wins over LSU and Auburn, the Tide battled then-No. 6 TCU into overtime, becoming one of just two teams to take the Horned Frogs into overtime during the regular season
- The Crimson Tide has outscored its opponents when playing at home 23-8
THE CRIMSON TIDE
- All-SEC first team selection Reyna Reyes paced the backline as the Crimson Tide shutout six opponents this season, including three conference opponents in LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn
- Goalkeeper McKinley Crone recorded 60 saves and five shutouts this season to move her to ninth and sixth, respectively, for career saves (137) and career shutouts (10) at Alabama
- Riley Tanner also ranks on UA's all-time list, tying for sixth in game-winning goals with three
- Ashlynn Serepca continues to pace the team in points (13)
- Serepca also leads the team in goals alongside Kate Henderson as both netted five shots this season
SCOUTING CLEMSON
- Clemson enters Friday's game with a 12-6-1 record
- The Tigers are making their eighth consecutive tournament appearance after earning an at-large berth to this year's tournament
- The team is coming off a recent loss to Virginia in the ACC semifinals, falling 1-0 to the top-seeded Cavaliers
- Clemson is led by Megan Bronkamp, who has scored 10 goals and tallied 10 assists for 30 points
- Hensley Hancuff paces the team in net, recording 35 saves and allowing 15 goals this season
