Alabama Rowing Welcomes Clemson for Head of the Black Warrior River Saturday

The Crimson Tide and Tigers will compete in three full-length races and a number of shorter pieces
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama rowing is set to welcome Clemson for the Head of the Black Warrior River on Saturday, Oct. 30 starting at 9 a.m. CT.
The Crimson Tide and Tigers will race in three 5,000-meter races featuring Varsity Pairs, Varsity Four and Novice Eight crews and, following a break, will then break off into a series of five shorter 1,500-meter pieces for the Varsity Eight and Novice Eight.
The race is the second and final fall competition for Alabama, previously earning six medals at the Head of the Oklahoma Oct. 2-3. The Tide will face the Tigers again to open its spring slate, traveling to Clemson, S.C. for an exhibition on Feb. 26.
The Head of the Black Warrior River will also serve as the team's annual Power of Pink event, an Alabama Athletics initiative started by former UA gymnastics coach Sarah Patterson in 2004 that helps raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
