Track and Field Opens 2021 Indoor Season Friday at Vanderbilt Commodore

The Crimson Tide returns to the track for the first time in 321 days
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama track & field is set to begin the 2021 indoor season this weekend, as the Crimson Tide travels to Nashville, Tenn., for the Vanderbilt Commodore at Vanderbilt’s Multipurpose facility on Friday and Saturday.
Alabama will be competing with fellow Southeastern Conference programs, Missouri, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and meet host Vanderbilt.
A full slate of events begins Friday at 4 p.m. CT with the high jump and continues through the 5,000m at 7:25 p.m. CT. The following day begins with the shot put and 60m hurdles at noon and will conclude with the 4×400m relay at 3:45 p.m. Spectators are not allowed for the meet, but a live stream is available on YouTube, as well as live results online.

Back on Track
- Tide returns to the track for the first time in 321 days after the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic
- Last time Alabama competed was at the 2020 SEC Indoor Championship in College Station, Texas (Feb. 28-29, 2020)

- The 2020 season capped off with nine student-athletes earning NCAA Indoor All-America honors with D'Jai Baker, Mercy Chelangat, Tamara Clark, Natassha McDonald and Takyera Roberson for the women and Bobby Colantonio Jr., Robert Dunning, Christian Edwards and Isaac Odugbesan for the men’s squad
- The women’s distance crew will look to carry its momentum from the cross country season, in which the Tide finished runner-up at SECs, marking the best fall campaign since 1994
New Kids on the Block
- Several Alabama student-athletes will make their collegiate indoor debuts at Vanderbilt with notable newcomers: Amari Brown, Bianca Carroccio, Patricija Cirule, Nadia Herring, Kennedy Luewellyn, Sophie Spada, Kayla Tolbert, Aysia Ward for the women and Mateo Barreto, Nathan Cooper, Josiah Harry, Jace Jones, Jonathan Martin for the men
- The Tide have added a few transfers to its roster, including Jack Hawes, Kieran McKeag and Christal Mosley
