Crimson Tide Ranked Third in Preseason Amway Coaches Poll

The Crimson Tide is one of three Southeastern Conference teams ranked in the top five
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – USA Today released its annual Preseason Amway Coaches Poll for the upcoming 2020 college football season on Thursday, ranking Alabama as the No. 3 team. It marks the 11th consecutive year that the Crimson Tide will enter the season ranked amongst the top-three teams in the nation.
The initial poll has Clemson as the preseason No. 1 team with Ohio State at No. 2. Alabama is next at No. 3, receiving four first-place votes, and is followed by fellow Southeastern Conference foes Georgia (No. 4) and LSU (No. 5) to round out the top-five. In total, the SEC has six teams in the top-13 of the poll with three other member schools receiving votes.
Alabama returns 17 starters from a season ago, including eight on offense, six on defense and three on special teams. The Crimson Tide finished the 2019 season at 11-2 and ranked eighth in the final Coaches Poll, capping off the year with a 35-16 with over Michigan in the Vrbo Citrus Bowl on New Year's Day.
