"Being able to get back into tournament play after all the COVID-19 craziness has been really great," Curtis said. "It felt really good to be able to get back out there and be in control of my game and to make match play. I'm very excited to get match play going tomorrow and keep playing."
The Richmond, Virginia, native fired a 3-under par 69 on Wednesday to post a 36-hole total of 4-under par 140 and claim one of the top-two seeds in Thursday's opening round of match play. Curtis closed stroke play with 10 birdies.
"There are a lot of great players on the field so to be able to put two great rounds together and to be able to come out on the top feels great. But, everything resets tomorrow, and it is all about match play."
With the cut to the low 32, the first two rounds of match play are set for Thursday. The match play quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Friday, with the 18-hole championship match to be held Saturday morning.
