Alabama Women's Golf Begins Play at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate Friday

The Crimson Tide head to Hilton Head, S.C., for the three-day 54-hole event
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama women's golf team heads to Hilton Head Island, S.C. for the ninth annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club, March 6-8.
The Crimson Tide competed in the inaugural event in 2012 and has won the tournament five of the eight years it has been played (2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018).
Tournament Info
- The 54-hole event on the par-71, 6,221-yard course features 18 holes each day. Play will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday and 7 a.m. CT on Sunday.
- The highly touted participating teams include No. 18 Arkansas, No. 21 Auburn, No. 23 Baylor, No. 4 Duke, Florida State, Furman, Georgia, No. 14 LSU, North Carolina, Northwestern, No. 6 South Carolina, No. 1 Texas, No. 12 UCLA, No. 4 Vanderbilt, Virginia and No. 7 Wake Forest.
- Out of the 17 teams competing for the title, 11 universities are ranked in Golfstat's top 25 women's team collegiate rankings and 21 players are listed in the individual top 50 rankings.
A Look at the Lineup
- The Crimson Tide starting five includes senior Kenzie Wright, juniors Polly Mack and Angelica Moresco, and freshmen Caroline Curtis and Emilie Øverås.
- Last time out at the Florida State Match-Up, freshman Emilie Øverås and junior Polly Mack both placed among the top-10 individuals to secure the team's fifth straight top-four finish this season.
- Senior Kenzie Wright paces the Tide with a 71.93 scoring average and comes in at No. 31 in the latest Golfstat rankings.
- Wright is also among 72 golfers selected to participate in the prestigious second-annual Augusta National Women's Amateur April 1-4 at Augusta National.
- The Crimson Tide women finished the fall season strong, with three second-place finishes in the Schooner Fall Classic (284-283-281/847), Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational (283-280-290/853) and Landfall Tradition (285-278-299/862).
