
Alabama Track and Field Shines on Day Two of New Mexico Collegiate Classic

The Crimson Tide won four more individual events for a total of eight over the weekend in the Land of Enchantment
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Alabama track & field closed out the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in strong fashion on Saturday inside the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Saturday was a busy day across the board for Alabama, as the Crimson Tide received four victories and 12 top-five finishes.

Field Event Highlights
- Junior Ryan Lipe had a solid outing in the men's pole vault, finishing second out of collegians at a PR of 17-07.00 (5.36m), pushing him to No. 2 currently in the Southeastern Conference and improving on his place at No. 15 in the NCAA.
- Both Crimson Tide men competing in triple jump recorded top-five performances, junior Christian Edwards cleared 52-07.50 (16.04m) to win and senior Michael Wiggins (49-02.25/14.99m) placed fourth among collegians.
- Juniors Nickolette Dunbar and Taylor Gorum went 2-4 in the women's shot put. Dunbar tossed a mark of 54-03.75 (16.55m), while Gorum heaved a distance of 49-11.75 (15.23m).
- In the men's shot put, junior Isaac Odugbesan out-threw the field with a 62-02.25 (18.95m) mark and teammate sophomore Chago Basso followed with a best of 60-06.00 (18.44m).

Track Event Highlights
- Fresh off last night's win in the women's 200m, junior Tamara Clark continued to dominate in the women's 60-meter dash, posting a 7.23 to win the final. Clark's best time of the day came in the prelim with a time of 7.21.
- Junior Champion Allison was the lone Crimson Tide runner in the men's 400m, as he raced to a time of 46.41 to finish runner-up.
- Senior Robert Dunning clocked a time of 7.73 in the prelim of the 60m hurdles to grab the fastest qualifying time and picked up the victory in the finals with a time of 7.76.
- To end the meet on track for Alabama, seniors Takyera Roberson, D'Jai Baker and Natassha McDonald along with sophomore Sydney Milani combined for a time of 3:31.74 in the women's 4x400-meter relay to finish second overall.
- In the men's race, senior Stephan Holcombe, junior Joshua St. Clair, freshman Matthew Weaver and sophomore Gabe Serrano clocked a time of 3:12.66 to take home third.

Up Next
Alabama will split squads for the first time this indoor season next week, with a contingent heading out west to the Texas Tech Shootout, another group is set to compete at the Vanderbilt Music City Invite, while the remainder head north to Iowa State Classic, all running from February 14-15.
