Alabama Looks to Keep Momentum Going on the Road at No. 12/14 Texas A&M on Thursday Night

The Crimson Tide has won its last two conference games
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama will seek its first ever win against Texas A&M when it travels to College Station, Texas on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT inside Reed Arena. The Crimson Tide (16-11, 6-8 SEC) has won back-to-back, Southeastern Conference games for the first time since 2018, while the No. 12/14 Aggies (22-5, 10-4 SEC) have won their last four contests.
The last time out, Alabama defeated No. 9/9 Mississippi State, 66-64 after sophomore Megan Abrams' tip-in at the buzzer snapped a six-game losing streak to MSU and the win over a top-10 opponent was the Tide's first since 2014. Also on Sunday, Texas A&M dominated Auburn, 84-54, in Reed Arena.
This is the second matchup of the season between the Tide and the Aggies. In its first meeting, Alabama led by as many as 11 points in the second half before A&M stormed back to win 79-74 on Jan. 23 in Tuscaloosa. In its five meetings in Reed Arena, the Aggies have defeated Alabama by 15 or more points each time. Last season Texas A&M came away with the 70-43 victory in College Station on Jan. 13, 2019.

Opening Tip
- The Crimson Tide defeated a top-10 opponent for the first time since 2014 with its 66-64 victory over No. 9 Mississippi State on Sunday in Starkville. With No. 12 Texas A&M up next on the schedule, UA has a chance at history as Alabama has never defeated top-15 opponents in back-to-back games in the program's history. Alabama is also seeking its first-ever win against Texas A&M. The Crimson Tide is 0-9 all-time versus the Aggies. A&M has defeated the Tide by double-digits in seven of nine meetings.
- The Tide has battled on the road this season in the SEC. In its last three SEC losses, UA has been defeated by a combined seven points. Alabama lost 76-75 in overtime to Georgia (2/16), 66-62 versus Kentucky (2/6) and against Tennessee (1/20), 65-63.
- Redshirt junior Jordan Lewis was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. Lewis led the Crimson Tide in two crucial SEC wins, including its win at MSU. The Tide's starting point guard averaged 16.5 points, six boards and 4.5 assists to propel Alabama in its two wins last week.
- Senior Ashley Knight is currently averaging 1.85 blocks per game which is No. 47 in the nation and sixth in the SEC. Her 50 blocked shots this season are good enough for No. 41 in the country and sixth in the conference. The 50 swats are seventh-most by an Alabama player in a single season.
- Junior Jasmine Walker is one of the best three-point shooters in the conference, as she fifth in the SEC in three-point makes (54), sixth in makes per game (2.0) and third in percentage (37.8). Walker leads the team in shots attempted (289), shots made (116), three-point makes (54) and three-point attempts (143). The Montgomery native also is tops on the team in rebounds per game with 6.9. In road games, Walker leads the Tide with 14.3 points and 7.4 rebounds each time out.
- Alabama is one of the best in the country at getting to the free throw line. The Crimson Tide is No. 30 in the nation in free throw attempts (542) and No. 27 in makes (380). UA is knocking down its attempts at a 70.1 percent clip which is good enough for fourth in the SEC.
- UA is one of the best three-point shooting teams in the SEC, coming in at fourth in the conference in attempts (541), makes (184) and makes per game (6.8).

- Texas A&M has an impressive 14-1 record in College Station, including winning its last five games in Reed Arena.
- Standout Chennedy Carter was out with an injury in the first meeting between the two teams. She is back in the lineup and averaging 22 points to go along with 4.6 rebounds per game. The Aggies have three others behind Carter that average double figures including Kayla Wells with 13.1 points per game, Ciera Johnson 12.6 points and then N'dea Jones who is averaging a double-double with 11.5 points and 11.7 rebounds per game.
- Head Coach Gary Blair is in his 17th year with A&M, while he picked up his 400th career win at the helm against Missouri on Jan. 26. Blair has the fifth most career victories among active Division I coaches with an 813-327 career record.
