Women's Basketball Hits the Road for Matchup with Ole Miss

The Crimson Tide and Rebels will play at 2 p.m. on Sunday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama will get back on the road when it travels to Oxford, Miss., to play Ole Miss on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. CT. The Crimson Tide (12-9, 2-6 SEC) and Rebels (7-14, 0-8 SEC) are both coming off losses to ranked opponents on Thursday night. The Tide fell to No. 25 Arkansas 66-48, while Ole Miss has lost all eight of its Southeastern Conference games, most recently against No. 1 South Carolina 87-32 at The Pavilion.
This is the 61st meeting between the two sides with Ole Miss leading 34-26 in the series, however, the Crimson Tide has won five straight against the Rebels. Alabama has won four consecutive games in Tuscaloosa and won the last time in Oxford, 65-57, on Jan. 22, 2017. The Tide has come out victorious three of the last four times at The Pavilion.

Opening Tip
- The Crimson Tide has played its best basketball on Sundays by compiling a 7-1 record on the year. Alabama's two conference wins have come on Sunday with convincing victories over Auburn and Vanderbilt.
- Crimson Tide sophomore Megan Abrams has converted 16 of her last 17 free throw attempts, dating back to the South Carolina game on Jan. 5. Alabama is one of the best in the country at getting to the free throw line. UA is No. 28 in the nation in free throw attempts (422) and No. 27 in makes (294). The Tide is knocking down its attempts at a 69.7 percent clip which is good enough for fifth in the SEC.
- Since the 1999-00 season, only one Alabama team has averaged more than 70 points per game for the year and none have over the previous 17. This season, the Crimson Tide is putting up 73.5 points per contest which ranks fourth in the SEC. Alabama is on pace to score the most points in a season since 1998-99 when the Tide put up 77.5 per game.
- UA had one of the toughest schedules to start Southeastern conference play with five out of its first eight games coming against top-25 teams. Six of the seven of the teams the Tide has played are in the top-50 in RPI, which includes, Arkansas (41) Texas A&M (17), Tennessee (49), LSU (24), Kentucky (22) and South Carolina (2).
- Redshirt junior Jordan Lewis became the program's 29th 1,000-point scorer on Jan. 20 at Tennessee. She currently has 1,040 career points. Lewis took over the No. 8 spot in career assists at Alabama against Texas A&M on Jan. 23 and is just eight away from moving up to No. 7. For the season, Lewis leads the team in points (13.7), assists (3.5) and is second in three-point makes (36).
- Alabama is one of the better three-point shooting teams in the SEC, coming in at fourth in the conference in attempts (430), makes (149), makes per game (7.1) and percentage (34.7). Junior Jasmine Walker has put up solid numbers from beyond the arc after converting 19-of-47 (40.5 percent) in conference play. For the season, Walker is fifth in the conference in three-point makes (41) and sixth in makes per game (1.95).
- The Alabama bench has outscored its opponents, 666-356 (31.7 avg. - 17.0 avg), in 21 games this season. The Tide reserves lead the SEC in total bench points and bench points per game. The reserves have accounted for 43.2 percent of the Tide's scoring, with senior Cierra Johnson (8.7) leading the bench.
About Ole Miss
- The Rebels are searching for their first SEC win of 2020 after losing all eight of their games, six of which came by a double-digit margin.
- Deja Cage leads the team with 12.8 points per game, while the Rebels only averages 55.4 points per contest.
- Head Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin is in her second year with the program while totaling a 16-36 record. McPhee-McCuin came to Oxford from Jacksonville University after spending five years with the Dolphins.
