SEC Champions; College Football Playoff Bound
Congratulations to our football team for winning its 28th Southeastern Conference championship with the 52-46 victory over Florida on Saturday. It's been a challenging season, to say the least, and we are so proud of everyone involved and thankful for the great leadership we had to get to this point. Next up, we head to Arlington, Texas as the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff, which was relocated from Pasadena, Calif. We will face No. 4 Notre Dame in AT&T Stadium on Friday, Jan. 1 at 3 p.m. CT.

Women's Basketball Finishes Non-Conference Schedule Undefeated

Great job by our team, led by its trio of seniors in Ariyah Copeland, Jordan Lewis and Jasmine Walker. Tickets are on currently on sale for the SEC home opener on Monday, Jan. 4 against South Carolina.
Crimson Tide Graduates
In the midst of a very busy December, 30 members of the Crimson Tide fulfilled our ultimate goal for all of our student-athletes when they earned their degrees during commencement weekend. Among this month's graduates were 10 members of the football team who stepped off the plane after a win at Arkansas and went straight to the Coliseum, finishing off a long day, well spent, by putting on their caps and gowns and receiving their diplomas. Congratulations to all our graduates. We are excited to see where your next chapters take you.
Alabama Athletics and Project Angel Tree
For the 29th year in a row, our department took part in Project Angel Tree, providing holiday joy and presents to more than 30 children in the West Alabama community. While members of our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, usually host a party to go along with the gifts, this year they took the celebration virtual, including reading holiday classics and Zoom visit by Santa.
Jon Dever Retires
This month marks the retirement of Jon Dever, who closed out his Crimson Tide career as our Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student Services. Jon joined us in June of 1992 and proceeded to help build one of the nation's premiere academic support programs, one that gave the Crimson Tide one of the very best reputations when it comes to classroom excellence. Leading the nation in Academic All-America honors since 2000 and holding the league record in SEC Scholar-Athletes of the Year are just some of the many, many academic highlights that came under his watch. We thank him for all he has done for so many for so long, and we wish Jon and his wife Joellen the best.

University Spotlight
There are so many great stories here on campus between our students and our faculty, including these that highlight some of the recent graduates from the ceremony on Dec. 12. Congratulations to all of those that earned their degrees!
